Sue

I completed my student placement (many years ago now!) at Barnardo’s Children’s Charity, and at PROPS who support people caring for someone using drugs or alcohol to cope. These placements gave me a great start to counselling and an understanding of the value of organisations like A Time 2 Talk to provide free counselling whenever possible. I have been with a Time 2 Talk from the beginning and proud to have been a part of how the service has grown over the years, I oversee the day to day administration, keeping the cogs turning in the background, another aspect to the service we provide to the community.

Counselling has allowed me to provide my clients with a safe place to explore the difficulties they are experiencing, whatever they may be. Person Centred counselling does what it says on the ‘can’, the client is at the centre of the sessions. The client gets to understand who they are, what they feel, and I encourage self-exploration and self-understand. In knowing yourself you can become your own therapist, discovering the thinking you hide from others and dealing with how it makes you feel is liberating. I may introduce Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Life Coaching when appropriate and with the client’s agreement.

To keep myself and my clients safe I follow the ethical principles as published by the BACP. As a member to the BACP I have access to practical and ethical support, continuing learning, alongside up-to-date news and current issues in counselling. I have a current DBS and the required insurance cover.
