Liz

I am a trainee counsellor at the Northern Guild with three years of training. I strongly believe that everyone seeking counselling is different, and I use multiple theories to tailor an approach suited to each person’s needs and interests. Where it is helpful, I like to explore metaphor, creative writing, art, and other creative techniques to help people to understand themselves and improve their relationships with others. My previous background is in philosophy, and I am especially interested in helping people to manage anxiety about big questions surrounding things like meaning, freedom, isolation, and death.

I have worked with clients exploring issues related to disability, illness, caring, autism/ADHD, bereavement, loneliness, and relationship problems.

It is very important to me to work ethically, fairly, and compassionately, forming a partnership with clients to explore their problems together. I am a student member of the BACP, and I adhere to the BACP ethical framework and the code of ethics of Northern Guild Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have the appropriate DBS checks and indemnity insurance in place.
